Residents of Msawawa have lost everything they have ever owned - can you help?

posted on

I am sure that you have heard of the estimated 250 shacks that burnt in Msawawa, the informal settlement in Kyasands, on Wednesday afternoon. Msawawa is an area in which Witkoppen is active, and our Social Services staff spent the day there yesterday to assess and assist in any way we could.

The fire was so strong that people could not salvage anything. We appeal to you to kindly donate anything you can – new or used blankets, clothing and dry food would be particularly appreciated, but the situation is dire and many people have lost everything. Two Witkoppen Social Services volunteers have also been affected.

Mpolokeng Kambule, our Social Services HOD, humbly requests that you kindly support these people in any way that you can.

All donations can be dropped off at the Witkoppen Clinic, we will ensure that it gets to the neediest people. If you have a large amount we can try to arrange to have it picked up.

Thanking you in advance
